Drawings--upside down and skewed

These are my drawing practice (I'd say "warm-up" if I continued on with something else) that I can do in the middle of the day to help myself stay sane.

These first two were drawn with the reference photo upside down--a most excellent right-brain exercise (even though the whole right/left brain thing has been scientifically debunked).

The next two were essentially blind contour drawings, with pencil, that were then rendered as realistically as possible.

  1. It amazes me how you stretch yourself in art...blind contour, upside down....and everything you draw is good.

    1. Well...there's somethings I don't post because they're so terrible--but thank you!!!!

  2. wow they are wonderful drawings. Annette x

  3. Very impressive drawings, somehow the slight distortions and skewing add to the feeling of reality of the people. Lovely.

  4. Your drawings are always great and such a reallife people. Stunning!!

  5. Fantastic drawings (as always) and YES, what a great exercise. I tend to draw/doodle from life, so I've not done this for a long while. I think I'll be making some time to find a photo and turn my world upside-down.

Thanks for the reminder and inspiration!
